Save the Date: NCTA/NCSHP Caisson Unit Fundraiser
Overview
NCTA/NCSHP
Caisson Unit Fundraiser
The NCTA/NCSHP Caisson Unit is a partnership between the North Carolina Troopers Association and the North Carolina State Highway Patrol. It receives no state funding for operation; instead the Unit relies solely on contributions.
The NCTA/NCSHP mission is to serve North Carolina and bordering states during a time of loss of a fallen Law Enforcement Officer or Fire Fighter, North Carolina Governors and other Incumbent Members of the State.
What is the Caisson Unit?
The Caisson is a horse drawn military wagon that is used to transport a funeral casket. The Caisson wagon is well known for its use at Arlington National Cemetery where it has carried fallen soldiers and former United States Presidents to their final resting burial. The unit consists of an Amish built wagon, a collage of six horses and the North Carolina State Troopers assigned to serve the unit.
*Goal is to raise enough money to support the maintenance of the Caisson unit for an entire year*
